Whats happening in the Arts
In 2020 we have made some big changes to the art room and foyer out from the Arts/Tech staffroom.
In the art room, we have painted some of the walls with blackboard paint and installed a black acoustic board for pinning student work.
Bella Wood in Grade 9 was selected to create an illustration with chalkboard pens on the wall and over time other students will be selected to draw their illustrations on the wall.
This year we have installed an exhibition hanging system throughout the Administrative block and Arts/Tech hallways. Our fabulous Arts/Tech Technician, Julie Hoddy has curated the space; framing and installing our students work for display.
GLAZED AND CONFUSED EXCURSION
Grade 9/10 Ceramics students visited Glazed and Confused Ceramic Studio in Hobart, Term 3, to learn the skill of wheel throwing. Each student threw a number of pots on the wheel and returned to school with a completed piece. Julie Hoddy, a local artist visited the school and demonstrated the use of transfers. Each student completed decorating their vessels with a transfer.
GRADE 7 PHOTOGRAPHY EXCURSION
As a part of the Urban/architecture unit students in Grade 7 photography visited Hobart and walked from the Cenotaph into Salamanca. Students were to draw together all their practice and skills learnt in the classroom and capture original and abstract photographs of the buildings around Hobart.
